Fruits of my Labor

So after being out of town for a little while and seeing the beautiful islands of Hawaii, I'm back in the states. And upon my return I came home to my garden full and ripe for the picking! So I thought this would be a good to time to give a little update on how the garden is lookin.

This is my first little harvest I was able to pick. Aside from a handful of herbs, I harvested: one zucchini, one yellow squash, and two banana peppers. Farmvilles got nothin on me.

Happy Wednesday!

Early Mornings & Days Off

It's Monday morning and I have the day off from classes. Which makes me one happy girl. But sometimes waking up early can leave my a little off balance. I know 9:00 isn't all that early, but hey, I'm not a morning person. So as I was checking emails and editing photos and drinking coffee, I should have know it was not a good combo. Because all of a sudden coffee spilled all over my lap. And laptop. Thankfully all is okay and no electronic device was harmed in the making of this post.

Hopefully the rest of my day will go better. And the skies in Orange County will clear. (Come on July, gloomy weather is June's thing.) Have a good Fourth of July Observed day and enjoy the time off, I know I will.

Happy Monday!

Boyce Avenue Contest

So my friend Jessica contacted me the other day because she needed a photo for a contest. The contest was for the band Boyce Avenue, who I had never heard of (And I'll apologize right now if any band members read this). So the contest rules were to submit a creative photo of where you listen to their new song, "Every Breath." And I have to say after hearing the song, I've become a fan. The prizes range from big to small, including meeting the band.

With that I told her I'd love to take the picture for her, but she would need to supply the creativity. And she did! She brought along all the things she does when she listens to her music and it all came together as an adorable shoot. I know your gonna blow the others out of the water;)

I think this was our winning shot...

Wedding "Photo Booth"

I had so much fun this past weekend! A sweet woman at my church called me a few weeks back asking if I could shoot at her daughter's wedding. Although I wasn't Amy's actual wedding photographer, I got to shoot a "photo booth" session during the reception. And it was a blast. I mean I didn't even know the people there but I was having fun right along with them.

Thank you so much Gina for hiring me. And thank you Amy and Brett for having me do this during the reception. I wish you two all the best and a blessed life together!

There was so many pictures but these were some of my favorites. And since it was their wedding I'll start off with one with the bride and groom...

Reaping and Sowing

For a few months now I have been talking about planting my own vegetable garden. And this week I decided to put my plans into action. I pulled weeds, raked dirt and tilled soil. With my friend helping me make raised beds to keep out the enemy, ya know those little fluffy things that hop around with long ears, I'm hoping to reap a delicious harvest.

My veggies of choice were: bell peppers, squash, zucchini, tomatoes, an assortment of herbs, and strawberries (I'm hungry already!). Once August comes around I'll be adding carrots, spinach, arugula, and lettuce! It should be a tasty summer ahead!

Too long..

Wow it has been way too long to not have posted anything! So internet, I apologize. The last month had been crazy. Finals, workshops and internships consumed me. Oh yes I have been interning with Jim Kennedy Photographers for the last month and it has been amazing! And now that it's summer time I can't wait to be taking more photos. And have a break.

This brief little update can't possibly fill the giant gap in my blogging. But I promise to be posting more pictures more frequently.

And since every post is better with a picture...

Happy Friday!

Just Because: Brittany

It was cloudy, overcast, and perfect for picture taking. As Brittany and I, with a couple of our tag-a-long friends, adventured around the Ortega Highway we just hoped it wouldn't start raining. And as I decided to pull over on one of the turnouts to take a few shots, it came to be a fabulous photo shoot.
Brittany I'm so glad you decided to have this shoot. I had such a blast searching out fun spots in the forest together:) You are such a beautiful model and so easy to photograph. Thank you for making my job fun!

Just Because: Amanda

"I'm just not comfortable in front of the camera." This is what she tells me as we drive to our destination in downtown San Clemente. One thing I love about being able to shoot my friends is that we can always have a great time and they're more relaxed in front of the camera. I reassure her that it will be fiiine, and besides it's just for fun. And fun it was.
Amanda is like my mentor, best friend, and sister I never had. Anytime we get together we know there's two things for sure: Starbucks and laughing. So yesterday as we strolled along Del Mar we laughed and drank our iced tea from Starbucks. She is also picking up photography and so I gave her some pointers as she practiced away. Thank you for feeling comfortable enough to let me photograph you yesterday Amanda, it allowed for some great photos.

The beautiful Amanda

Like I said, we laugh a lottt

Forever on her phone.
